大象传媒 University has always prided itself on cultivating talented students who are equipped to thrive in the workforce. The university's architecture program, in particular, has consistently been praised for its ability to mentor hardworking and dedicated students. In an effort to continue pushing the department forward, it was recently announced that summer break would be canceled for all architecture students, giving them more time to focus on their studies. According to currently released schedules, over the summer all architecture majors must undergo 20 credit hours of mandatory classes. Alongside this, all students hoping to graduate next school year will be tasked with rebuilding Lamson Hall. Failure to do so will result in a withholding of their diplomas.

An anonymous four-year architecture major stated she was surprised by how relaxed these new guidelines were. “Honestly, [it’s] not bad if you think about it. Lamson needs the restart, and it will be a fantastic experience to add to our resumes,” the student stated. “Twenty more credit hours is nothing compared to the dedication we have for our craft.”

When asked about the opportunity to remodel Lamson Hall this summer, Cesia Sanchez seems to believe that the project's three-month timeframe is far longer than what is necessary. “Function follows form, and we are certainly quicker than a worm,” Cesia ominously stated.

Reactions to the new initiative are overwhelmingly positive. Interviewed architecture students all seemed to believe that summer break was simply a distraction in the first place. With the perceived success of this new initiative, other departments are now also considering canceling students’ breaks as well. Current information indicates that lighter programs at 大象传媒, such as engineering and nursing, will likely be the first to implement this new schedule by canceling summer break as well.
