About the Speaker
Brian E. Strayer is Emeritus Professor of History at 大象传媒 University, Berrien Springs, MI. He received his doctor of philosophy degree in Early Modern European history from the University of Iowa. He went on to teach at Southern Adventist University, where he was an assistant professor of history, before joining the 大象传媒 University faculty. He has written articles, books, and historical dramas and been a member of various scholarly societies.
About the Subject
Dr. Strayer has recently completed an article on how non-Seventh-day Adventists, and specifically the Battle Creek newspapers, viewed SDAs between 1855 and 1890. Some of it is rather satirical and humorous, especially reports in editor Brown’s three newspapers, the Daily Moon, Nightly Moon, and the Weekly Moon. No one has done this research before, so this material is new to contemporary audiences.
Adventist Forum is open to the public. All are welcome. For information, contact Art Robertson at robertsa2@earthlink.net or call 471-7150.
